Read on!

How easy was it to enter into the television industry? "I started my career through modeling and then went on to take part in the reality show called Zee Cine Star Ki Khoj. I reached the top ten contestants. Later when the contest got over, I stayed back in Mumbai. I started auditioning for roles and I think I was lucky enough. Within six months I got an audition in Balaji Telefilms' and I got through that audition. That is how I got Kasamh Se on Zee TV. I really got a lot of popularity from that show. Later, for many shows like Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu This, Kasautii Zindagii Kay, Kasturi, Kahe Naa Kahe, I have been associated with Balaji Telefilms."

Naman got his first break by Balaji Telefilms and he further went on to work with several other Balaji shows. "It was a wonderful association with Balaji Telefilms. I am still remembered for my first role in Balaji. Whatever I am today is just because of Balaji and Ekta Kapoor. She was the first one to give me a break into the television industry. She was the one who noticed me and showed that trust in me."

In brief, how has been your journey throughout? "There have been so many incidents. I have been a part of daily shows, reality shows and would want to be a part of some other ongoing reality shows. In that manner, my journey has been very simple. There were not many ups and downs but I would say, it would be great if a few shows of mine would have done well."

You've done several shows with different genres, how different or similar has been your character? "I have done different shows but sadly, my character has always been similar. I have been tagged as the 'Shravan Kumar' of television. I am absolutely not a Shravan Kumar in real life. People, who know me really well, know me how I am in real (laughs). But, I have been portrayed as a very good boy. I think it is because of the face that people think I am that Bechara, Lachar, Gareeb Maa-Baap Ka Beta (laughs aloud). I am a good boy but I am a good bad side which people do not seem to notice in me. My shows have been different but my characters for some reason have always been the same."

Would you ever want to become the bad boy of television? "I would love to do that grey shade character. Besides this, I also want to do a desi Bihar lingo kind of role. I am from UP so I know the dialect and language. But it seems people do not associate me with that kind of lingo. They do not even call me for a look test for that kind of role. I have asked couple of friends whether I should go and give auditions for such roles and they are like, Naman I do not think you will fit into that belt. You will not look desi neither you will look like a grey character (laughs)."

Do shows like Bigg Boss and Khatron Ke Khiladi and other reality shows impress you? "Oh! I would love to be a part of such shows. Bigg Boss, Khatron Ke Khiladi are fun and people tend to know the real me. On screen, I come across as my character to them but not the real Naman. I enjoy watching Bigg Boss and I do crazy stuffs like Bungee Jumping, so I would love to get into such shows."

TellyBuzz wishes further success to all his upcoming endeavors!
